Fast food employees in New York City demand higher pay amidst a national debate over increasing the minimum wage. Last week in New York City, hundreds of fast food workers walked off their jobs, demanding higher wages and improved benefits. Many of them earn the federal minimum wage of .50 an hour. New York state recently approved an increase in the minimum wage to an hour by the year 2016. But for a full time worker that still would only mean a yearly income of ,000 in a city where the living wage for one adult is estimated at ,500. In response to the protests, McDonald’s issued a statement saying it treats their employees with dignity and respect while offering competitive wages. Employees, however, say the company is simply ignorning their demands.

Reality TV on weed: Did CNN get 'High Profits' story right in Breckenridge?

The history and novelty of recreational marijuana in Colorado has been extensively covered by national media.

This includes the spotlight CNN shined on the resort town of Breckenridge in its “High Profits” series that focused on the Breckenridge Cannabis Club.

Katherine Grimm, a cannabis consultant and one of the featured players in “High Profits” joins Ricardo Baca on The Cannabist Show, where she answers the question many are asking: Was the year depicted in the show true to her experiences with the Breckenridge Cannabis Club and the drama on Main Street?

Grimm is quick to clarify that it’s a “docu-series” and not a reality show, but regardless, Grimm says that the show “stayed true to what happened”.

“In terms of the representation of me, obviously it was a very select piece of my personality that you were seeing”, Grimm says. “But that’s me, that’s how I do business. I’m aggressive and I steamroll people, and that’s me. So I don’t feel like they misrepresented me at all. Everyone else was portrayed as I know them as well.”
